Hi Everybody!! It's been awhile since I've posted anything so I thought I'd try to write a quick note to update you all on the events of the last month. :)
Let's see... about the middle of October Dave started having some back troubles. At first we were hoping he just needed a quick adjustment or two but soon found out that wasn't working and he then went to an Osteopath. After getting some pain meds along with a shot in the back he improved over the next week and a half but then suddenly, WHAM! he was bad again... actually worse. HE went for an MRI to find out there is a fragment that broke off from one of his disk's and is pressing on his nerves causing a great deal of discomfort... mostly sciatic. He is currently in the process of talking to a neurosurgeon to find out about surgery. I'll keep you posted.
Well the first quarter of school ended for both kids and they did very well. After having a little bit of difficulty with some classes, Brandon worked very hard and brought up all of his grades up. He had all A's and B's and one C and Kayla had all A's. I am very proud of both of them.
Kayla was planning on doing some trick or treating this year with one of her friend's but the friend couldn't make it so she took Travis trick or treating instead. Brandon did the annual trick or treating with his best friend, Tyler, and I decided to join them this year rather than hand out candy. Unfortunately, he was sick and only made it a few blocks before he started feeling real bad and we had to go home early. Next year he wants to hide up on the roof and scare the trick or treaters in our neighborhood. I think that sounds like fun but I asked Dave to make sure he's tied safe and secure up on the roof.
Meanwhile Brandon finally got to start his snowboarding lessons and so far has completed two of three. Once he has finished up the third lesson he will get his pass and will be able to venture out on his own... but probably he will be with Amie. Amie (and Hans) have been terrific about taking Brandon up with them and helping him with everything. I am extremely grateful! His first instructor reports " He's Rockin it. Heel side is Awesome and started a little toe side. Keep on Shredding!" Amie and Hans tells me this is snowboarding lingo and he's doing great! lol! Wow - I feel old.
Grandma Geri, after losing her dog Katy of many years, found a new little dog that needed a home and so now again, she has a little four legged companion. Chewie is his name and he is a one year old Schnauzer. Grandma is happy to have the company again.
Along came Thanksgiving. As usual there was lots of food and we had good company and even a really fun puzzle to work on all day. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable day. Amen!
And one last thing I forgot to mention. I had to have my very first root canal on one of my teeth... Ugh! I sure as hell hope it's the last!
I hope all is well with all of you and Happy Holidays! Lots of love. Maye, Kayla and Brandon
